Technology in Social Studies

  • Integrating Technology in the Social Studies Class; Whether it be researching and creating spreadsheets with data, generating graphs or charts, or creating Web scavenger hunts, ideas abound for using technology in your social studies class today.
  • Teaching With Technology;Much of the Social Studies curriculum is based around the idea of learning about the world around us and the myriad ways that people across the globe function and live differently but effectively. With technology we, as social studies teachers, have a chance to allow our students to explore and experience the world in a new virtual way.
  • Brave New World; This article discusses the ways in which technology makes a social studies come alive and how it can aid the development of students as responsible citizens.
  • Rethinking Scools; Rethinking Schools began as a local effort to address problems such as basal readers, standardized testing, and textbook-dominated curriculum. Since its founding in 1986, it has grown into a nationally prominent publisher of educational materials, with subscribers in all 50 states, all 10 Canadian provinces, and many other countries.
  • Teach with Technology;
    4Teachers.org works to help you integrate technology into your classroom by offering online tools and resources. This site helps teachers locate online resources such as ready-to-use Web lessons, quizzes, rubrics and classroom calendars.
